Born in Portland, Oregon, I grew up outside the city in the town of Hillsboro.  I was a competitive swimmer from age 7 until I graduated college, holding a top ten national ranking, competing at U.S. Nationals, NCAA Division 1 Championships, as well as the U.S. Olympic Trials and World Championship Trials. Upon graduation from SMU in Dallas, Texas, I went to work for a large health care company which owned and operated hospitals.  As a human resource manager, I traveled across the country dealing with various HR matters and as the primary HR point person for hospital acquisitions.  My husband and I relocated to Santa Barbara, California where we lived for four years before deciding move to Harvard in order to be closer to his mother.  After college I had pursued a passion for horses and the equestrian sport of Eventing (the triathlon of horse sports), so we bought a small farm where I keep my horses.  Ever the competitor, I traveled up and down the east coast competing for a few years until, two years ago, I suffered an unfortunate riding accident and badly broke my leg.  I had taken up Pilates when Bodylines opened the Harvard studio so as soon as I was able, I turned to the Bodylines team to aid with my rehab and recovery.  Several months of privates really sparked a flame as I experienced how much Pilates changed not only my body but my spirit at a time when I was feeling very weak and vulnerable.  It was this experience which made me decide to pursue becoming an instructor and I’m excited to continue learning, building upon my Pilates practice and sharing it’s magic with others.
