Give Yourself Some “Chillax” Time

Tips to fully embrace the summer vibe

We live in an extremely fast-paced world. We are always on, always available, and always busy. If you are part of our community, you already know how incredibly important we think it is to slow down, be present, and give yourself some “chillax” time. (Chill out and relax = chillax) 🧘🏻‍♂️

It can be very challenging to let yourself really relax. Sometimes we can’t stop thinking of everything on our “to do” list. 📃

We get it!! You still have responsibilities. You can’t just kick your feet up any time you feel like it. That’s not what we are getting at here.

We simply want to challenge you to take little golden nuggets of time to get centered, calm your nervous system and fully embrace the summer vibe. ✌🏻

So here are some tips we put together to help you do that:

🧘🏻‍♂️Simply take deep breaths! Practice the 4-7-8 breath to activate your parasympathetic nervous system. Inhale for 4 seconds, suspend your breath for 7 seconds and exhale for 8 seconds. This will send a “chillax” signal to your brain!

🌲Pause and notice the beauty around you. Even in the little moments that you are doing your normal routines. As you’re driving to the grocery store, notice the blue sky and the pretty puffy clouds. As you’re walking to the mailbox, notice the fresh air or the green on all the trees. (How quickly us New Englanders forget the stark trees of winter)

🧘🏻‍♂️🌲Combine breath work and observing nature. An ancient practice in Japan called “Forest Bathing” has shown to decrease stress and anxiety. This is a great thing to also do with children. It’s never too soon to teach them stress management techniques.

🌎Try Grounding yourself. Did you know that research shows that “Earthing” (Grounding) reduces inflammation, pain, and stress; improves blood flow, sleep and vitality? Try walking barefoot or lying down on the lawn in your yard.
